The UK's largest ever LAN party has finally drawn to a close - i30 has been one of the most exciting events ever with nearly 1500 participants, 10 tournaments, tonnes of exhibitors, and tens of thousands of pounds given away in prizes.
It all kicked off on Thursday when over 750 people took advantage of our Early Arrival Service in order that they could hit the ground running come the next day. Friday arrived, the crowds came and the LAN stirred into life, its rows filled with gamers endlessly fragging. Tournaments kicked off on Friday afternoon with over 92 clans entered into our Counter-Strike: Source competition.
The i30 tournaments continued all weekend - the first of which beginning on Saturday. Streamed live to the world, the Multiplay Arena provided the perfect location for the finalists to battle for the chance to be crowned champion of their tournament. An appealing mix of first-person shooters and real time strategy pleased the diverse spectrum of gamers at the i-Series. It was great to see a massive range of genres, from the fast reactions of the Quake 4 final to the strategic mind play of Supreme Commander. Check out our Video on Demand section to find the all of the finals - we are adding the remaining videos in the next few days! Also, make sure you head over to the gallery to find more coverage.
Once again we had a massive array of different exhibitors here all weekend showing of their latest gear and games. If it wasn't a chance to play on the Packard Bell racing machines or get yourself stuck into World in Conflict then it was building towers out of pink foam pigs. Check out our interviews with some of the top names in the industry in our exhibitors section.
i30 has had its usual selection of social activities as well - Saturday night saw one of our largest ever pub quiz nights with nearly 300 people taking part. We had the classic boat race, staff versus punters football and a bit of karaoke for the really brave (even Bill Roper joined in - how surreal would that have been!)
Speaking of which we had exclusive demonstrations of some of the biggest upcoming games. Massive Entertainment presented us with their newest title, World in Conflict and a packed arena was treated to an hour and a half display of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars from Paul Wedgewood of Splash Damage. Finally, we were lucky enough to graced by the presence of Bill Roper, legendary games producer, who presented us with an inside look at Hellgate: London. You can read all our reviews of these events online.
We hope everyone thoroughly enjoyed the event. Don't forget that you can get a 20% discount on your i31 ticket if you purchase it before the 23rd of April 2007. Check out all the coverage, give us your feedback on the forums, and we will see you next time.
